History and development
The history of Mercedes-Benz goes back to the inventions of Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler in the 1880s. The 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen is considered the beginning of modern automobile history. In 1901, a new model with the name "Mercedes" was introduced, and in 1902, this name became an official trademark.
In 1926, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie. merged to form the Mercedes-Benz brand. Later, the brand established a strong position in the luxury sedan market with the S-Class, E-Class and C-Class line. The AMG performance division and, in recent years, the EQ electric range have accelerated the brand's technological transformation.
Production and global position
The main production centers of Mercedes-Benz are located in Germany (Stuttgart, Sindelfingen, Bremen). In addition, there are production and assembly lines in the USA, China, South Africa and other regions. This model allows the brand to have a wide selection and stable supply for different markets.

AMG (Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach) is an independent company founded in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. Fully owned by Daimler AG since 1999.
