History and development
The history of BMW dates back to 1916. In 1913 Karl Rapp founded Motorenwerke. March 7, 1916 — Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH is founded. Status of BMW AG in 1917. In 1923, the first motorcycle R 32, in 1928 car production under the license of Dixi. 1936 BMW 328 — the fastest sports car of its time. Discontinuance after 1945, resumption in 1951 with 501. 1955 Isetta, 1959 brink of bankruptcy, 1961 BMW 1500 saved. Today, the manufacturer of luxury cars and sports cars.

Main factories: Munich (Germany), Dingolfing, Regensburg, Leipzig. USA (Spartanburg), China (Shenyang), Mexico. Cars for Azerbaijan are supplied from Germany and Europe.

M Series — Performance Division
BMW M GmbH was founded in 1972. The first goal was to support BMW's racing program. M — comes from the word motorsport. The first M car BMW M1 (1978). The real revolution came with the 1987 E30 M3.
